I got hooked on to Gillian Flynn’s writing style after reading Gone Girl. And her second novel Dark Places has certainly left a literal dark place in my heart. An unforgettable novel with shocking twists that will leave the reader breathless in the end.
One con would be that in between the novel becomes dull; the constant chill that was present in Gone Girl is relatively absent here in the middle. Still, Dark Places is a unique take on family in the mystery genre. A must-read for fans of suspense and of Flynn.
After reading this, Flynn is my now my favorite female writer, and most deservedly so. Also, I hope she brings out a fourth novel sooner rather than later.
